Lupe's Back?

We finally get the first single from the highly anticipated Food & Liquor 2 album. Fans are hoping it will be a return to the classic Lupe they came to love on Food & Liquor and The Cool. Lyrically, Lupe has definitely made his return. The wordplay and content is all great; This is the Lupe that makes you stop and think about his lyrics. But the one major problem that I have is the sample of "T.R.O.Y." by Pete Rock and Cl Smooth. First, the beat doesn't work well with Lupe's flow quite as well as it does for the originators. Lupe sounds as if he's struggling to keep pace and it results in  the song having this staggering, limping flow. My bigger complaint is that this beat is way too commercial now. After being a part of the Madden 12 and NBA Street soundtracks, everyone and their momma can recognize the track. Lupe is at an interesting crossroads can he remain super lyrical while using commercial tracks to get airplay? I want to say no, but we'll see what happens. Nevertheless I'm eagerly awaiting the release of Food & Liquor 2 and you should as well. Listen to the track for yourself below:
